Woodlea

Primary School

Annual Governance Position Statement

During the week commencing Monday 7th October 2019, Woodlea governors, within their remit to oversee the running of the school, undertook a planned and focused visit to the school which happens yearly. This is over and above termly meetings, drop in visits and governor attendance at numerous school events. During the week the senior management team and teaching staff were interviewed, observed or questioned by governors depending on their position. It was pleasing to find that the school continues to be well led, effectively managed and well maintained. It works within budget, and there is a clear focus by all on the educational attainment and well-being of our children. The annual school improvement plan is being progressed and the school identifies and drives forward new opportunities for improvement or further development of the school provision.

Governors continue to be reassured that the school actively facilitates, encourages and supports children’s educational needs and continues to embed a culture of personal and shared values, respect, tolerance and individual achievement. These views also mirror the findings of the most recent Ofsted inspection.

Woodlea Primary School strives to inspire, guide and prepare our children for the next stage in their education and is held in high regard as a place of learning. This is made possible by the commitment and efforts of all staff, parents and pupils of which they should feel PROUD.

Mr Ken Reed, Chair of Governors, On behalf of the Governing Body
